The Sunshine Journal's Parent Company Buys Indian River News
Independent journalism lives on in Indian River County.
On Thursday, July 4th, the sale of Indian River News to Rocker King Radio Productions, LLC was completed. “It was a great day for independent journalism in Indian River County. With Indian River News, Ryan [Blade] did great work in creating an outlet that sought to look at local news with facts and an honest assessment. My aim is to continue that mission merging it with The Sunshine Journal.”
Through his own Facebook page and website, Ryan Blade released a public statement regarding the sale of Indian River News to my company.
He said, “I am pleased to announce that Indian River News has been sold to Rocker King Radio Productions, operated by Thomas Kenny. Mr. Kenny had been a terrific asset to Indian River News during its run. He contributed using both his writing and editing skills as a volunteer editor to IRN.
Indian River News has been on a hiatus since late 2023. I have been pursuing other things in my life, and it is apparent that IRN will be best served by this sale.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported Indian River News. Mr. Kenny will continue to have my support for his current publication, The Sunshine Journal, and with whatever he wishes to do with IRN.”
Well, I didn’t see that coming.
