BREAKING: Kevin McDonald Appointed By Governor to School Board. Developing....
In a brief press release, DeSantis declares choice.
This morning, Governor DeSantis appointed District 5 school board candidate, Kevin McDonald to the seat left vacant by Brian Barefoot when he announced he resigned on February 21st. Reached for comment, the newly appointed school board member, McDonald, said, “I am honored to be selected and appointed by our great governor, Ron DeSantis, and I look forward to serving the parents, families and taxpayers of Indian River County.”
The appointment of McDonald has ended a six-week process where many in media and in Mr. Barefoot’s camp were trying to determine the governor’s decision. The Governor’s office was not hinting at any direction they would take in consideration of the situation. Mr. Barefoot had been lobbying for the return to his seat since his resignation citing he was misinformed about his own district boundaries. Mr. Barefoot had presumed he had moved out of District 5 and into District 2 when he purchased his new home in Oak Harbor.
